Delhi to Kashmir in Indian Railways’ 1st AC: Couple shares premium train experience, reveals cabin privacy, food | Video | Today’s news
A couple traveling from Delhi to Kashmir recently shared for the first time their experience of traveling in Indian Railways’ first AC coach, offering a glimpse into the privacy, comfort and facilities available in a premium train class.
From private cabins and double compartments to on-board dining and even a swimming pool, the couple’s video highlighted what passengers can expect when they opt for First AC.
The couple, who run the account @veggiewander, shared their journey on Instagram and described the experience as a special milestone, especially as they have always been fascinated by train travel.
“For the first time in our life we will be traveling in first AC and going from Delhi to Kashmir. Train travel has always been fascinating for us and today it is first class so the fun will be on a different level,” they said.
First AC train journey: Private cabins and compartments explained
One of the biggest draws the couple highlighted was the privacy offered inside the First AC department. Unlike regular sleeper and other AC buses, First AC accommodation is divided into closed cabins and smaller compartments that can be accessed through doors.

“In the first AC, all the seats are covered by doors, so there is complete privacy,” explained the couple.
They also described how the accommodation is divided according to the number of beds. First AC generally offers four-berth cabins and two-berth compartments with separate compartments identified by alphabetical labels.
“And each cabin or coop has an alphabet, such as A, B, C, D, E. Where there are only two seats, it is called a coop, and where there are four seats, it is called a cabin,” they said.
The couple particularly singled out the double coupe as a suitable layout for couples looking for a quieter and more private journey.

“So for couple travel, the coop works as a perfect, quiet and private space,” they added.
First AC facilities: Stairs, bathing and eating
The pair also showed off some of the devices available inside the premium section. They pointed out that passengers in the upper berths have access to them by stairs, which makes it easier to move around in the enclosed accommodation.
Another facility that caught their attention was the availability of bathing facilities in the First AC department.
“And there is also a bathroom in the first class compartment where you can take a bath,” they said.
Food and drinks were another part of their experience. According to the couple, passengers were allowed refreshments during the trip, including tea, coffee and water, along with food.

“There is no shortage of food and drink. You can comfortably enjoy the journey by drinking tea, water, coffee and food,” they said.
Delhi to Jammu in First AC: Couple shares travel experience
While the couple acknowledged that First AC tickets cost more than other train classes, they said the extra cost brought a different level of comfort and privacy.
“It costs a bit more, but the feel is absolutely premium,” they said.
The couple eventually reached Jammu after starting their journey from Delhi, describing the experience as their first ever journey in the Indian Railways’ top class regular passenger accommodation.
