Delhi’s Lal Quila Metro station will remain closed on Wednesday, November 12, amid an investigation into Monday night’s deadly blast that killed at least 13 people.
“Due to security reasons, Lal Quila Metro Station will continue to remain closed on November 12. All other stations are operational as usual. Please follow our social media channels for further updates,” DMRC said in a post on X.
At least 13 people were killed in a high-intensity explosion that tore through a slow-moving Hyundai i20 near Red Fort in central Delhi on Monday evening, November 10.
Are other metro stations closed?
All other metro stations, except Lal Quila station, will continue to function as usual, according to officials.
Delhi’s Red Fort blast: What we know so far
- The blast occurred around 6:52 pm on Monday evening, according to the Delhi Police, at the Subhash Marg traffic light near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort (Lal Qila) metro station.
- At least four suspects have been arrested and police have released CCTV footage of a masked man crossing the parking lot.
- Hours before the blast, 360 kg of explosive material and ammunition were recovered from a house rented by a doctor in Faridabad’s Dhauj village. The person has been identified as Dr Muzammil Shakil and has been arrested by the police.
- Home Minister Amit Shah held two security meetings after the blast. He also commissioned forensics teams to compare samples taken from the bodies in the i20 car that exploded.
