Protests in Delhi

Delhi has been rocked by protests led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) and left-wing student groups since Saturday, October 10. The main opposition party, the Congress, also launched a simultaneous protest for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner of India Gyanesh Kumar over alleged deficiencies in the Special Intensive Review (SIR).

Despite a heavy-handed crackdown by the Delhi Police, both the CJP and the Congress vowed to continue their protests until Kumar is removed from his post.

Over 30,000 police and paramilitary personnel have been deployed in the capital since Saturday due to mass protests.
