Delhi Police expects around 7,000 protesters to arrive in the capital on Saturday (October 10, 2026), with senior officers ordering staff to exercise maximum restraint and handle the situation professionally, an official said.

During a briefing ahead of the planned demonstration, the police were instructed not to respond to any provocative actions by the protesters and to maintain calm throughout the operation, they said.

Sources said the Delhi Police has made it clear that no unauthorized gathering will be allowed. Personnel were ordered to detain those who showed up to participate in the protest and transfer them to designated detention centers.

Depending on the circumstances, action can also be taken against individuals claiming to be independent journalists if they try to provoke police personnel or create a confrontation.

Regarding the possibility of moving the protesters to Ramlila Maidan, the police clarified that no request for permission to demonstrate has been received yet.

A formal request will need to be made to the relevant authorities to make a decision on the matter.

The senior officers also directed the police personnel to ensure that the entire force functions in a disciplined and professional manner. Senior police officers will remain present at the spot and take necessary decisions as per the situation.

This follows a protest by the Cockroach Janta Party at Jantar Mantar on October 10 against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Heavy police deployment has been deployed in several parts of the national capital to ensure law and order.
