
Two individuals who adopted Hyderabad residents of 21.5 ₹ Lakh in separate cases of cyber fraud were arrested on Saturday by a wing for computer crime Hyderabad Police.
In the first case, the police arrested thirty -year -old Malleshappagari Prabhakar, the inhabitants of Chandanagar, for his role in an online betting fraud that cheated on a Hyderabad man of 20.08 Lakh.
The defendant created a trade ID and opened over 80 current accounts using 11 Shell companies, which were then used to facilitate fraudulent transactions on the Betting platform 24betting.com.
The 30 -year -old victim was lured by Instagram advertising that promotes the application with promises of high revenue from games and investments. After originally received favorable revenues and allowed by limited selections, the victim was blocked in accessing his account as soon as more investments were made.
Police confiscated five mobile phones, two check books, three debit and credit cards, fake documents, rubber stamps of Shell companies and a card associated with fraud.
In the second incident, Manish (30), the inhabitants of Pandjabi Bagh in Delhi, were arrested for his involvement in the fraud of employment, who cheated on a 27 -year -old woman in Hyderabad 1.5 lakh.
The victim applied for work through the online portal and individuals were contacted as recruiters from a fictitious agency. The fraudsters claimed that six companies hired and asked her to choose the one she wanted to join. The victim then asked for a “fee” for registration, background verification, health insurance and security clearance.
The fraudsters assured her that the work was guaranteed and the whole fee would be returned to the job. After paying a total of 1,49,000 GBP, it was cut off from further communication and received no job offer. Police investigations revealed that Manish acted as a holder of an account and a supplier and facilitated transactions for fraudsters. It is also associated with a similar case in Karnataka.
In both cases, further investigation is underway.
