Justice Prathiba M. Singh of the Delhi High Court has been appointed as the Chairman of the Advisory Council of Judges of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) for the term 2025-2027.
After Justice Singh’s appointment, the Indian Mission to the United Nations in Geneva called it a “proud moment for India!”
“As Chair, she leads a group of international judges who provide guidance and direction for WIPO’s work with #IP (Intellectual Property) judges!” it was said on X.

In a statement, WIPO said it was “honored” to welcome Justice Singh, who also serves as co-chair of the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Working Group on Regulatory Considerations on Artificial Intelligence in Health.
In addition to Judge Singh, the Board has nine other members who will provide guidance and direction for WIPO’s work with judges. “Members of the Advisory Board serve in their personal capacities for a fixed term,” WIPO said, adding that it was “very fortunate to benefit from the invaluable support of all the judges who have generously served on the Advisory Board.”
According to WIPO, Justice Singh served as the President and Presiding Judge of the First Intellectual Property Division of the Delhi High Court during the 2021-2022 session. She started her legal career in 1991 and appeared regularly before the Supreme Court of India, the Delhi High Court, the IP Appellate Board and the Indian Patent Office. She currently serves as Co-Chair of the World Health Organization Working Group on Regulatory Aspects of AI in Health.
Justice Singh holds a law degree from the University Law College, Bangalore and an LL.M. from the University of Cambridge. In recognition of her outstanding contribution in this field, the ‘Prathiba M. Singh Scholarship’ was awarded for LL.M. students was founded in Cambridge in 2013. It was ranked among the 50 most influential people in the field of intellectual property globally for both 2021 and 2022.
Newly appointed members include Luis Antonio Camargo Vergara of Panama, Du Weike of China, Zhanar Mukhamedkaliyevna Duisenova of Kazakhstan, Mohammad ElZend of Egypt, Jean-Christophe Gayet of France, Michael Manson of Canada, Mustapher Mohamed Siyani of Tanzania, Savvas S. Papasavvas from the European Union and Woo Sungyop from South Korea.
