The Delhi High Court on Friday (Nov 06, 2026) granted the chairman of Al Falah University Al Falah Group, who is in custody in two money laundering cases, a seven-day conditional discharge to take care of his ailing wife.
The court issued the order after hearing Siddiqui’s plea for anticipatory bail or parole for a week on medical and humanitarian grounds.
Mr Siddiqui said his wife is a stage 4 ovarian cancer patient and has to undergo another round of chemotherapy on November 10.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) opposed Siddiqui’s interim release as the charges against him were serious. The ED counsel said the accused was a flight risk and had criminal antecedents, including his involvement in the November 2025 Red Fort car blast case.
In July, the high court refused to grant interim bail to Siddiqui and allowed him to meet his wife on three dates in conditional custody.
Siddiqui was arrested in two money laundering cases.
One case relates to the alleged generation of illegal funds from fees paid by university students. He was arrested on 18 November 2025 in a case registered under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
The ED investigation stems from two FIRs by the Delhi Police Crime Branch alleging that Al Falah University falsely assumed NAAC accreditation and UGC recognition to mislead students and parents.
Al Falah University has come under scrutiny as part of an investigation into “white-collar terror” in which two doctors linked to it have been arrested, while another, Umar-un-Nabi, has been identified as the suicide bomber in the November 10, 2025 explosion outside the Red Fort that killed 15 people.
