
The new Delhi, 4 July (PTI) The Delhi Court, on Friday, pulled the Delhi Council for the supply of contaminated water in the colonies and asked how the authorities could expect that citizens “drink mixed water”.
The bench of the Chief Judge DK UPphyaya and Justice Anish Dayal heard a lawsuit concerning the inhabitants of Yojan Vihar, Anand Vihar, Jagriti Enclave and other neighboring areas in East Delhi, received “highly contaminated drinking water” mixed with a home system.
“If someone does not know the door of the court, you cannot do it yourself? Do you ask the citizens of this city to drink waste water mixed water?” The bench asked.
The court, which on July 2, asked DJB to inspect the areas concerned, was informed that the agency found that in the Yojana Vihar area there was a very old water supply pipe in Yojana Vihar and requires replacement.
DJB reported on the situation on the basis of its survey and agreed to the presence of old and damaged water pipes in several domestic connections, including the house of the petitioner and neighboring areas.
DJB stated that the offer to replace the pipeline will be invited by July 7 and the contract will be entered by July 17th.
The project was designed as completed 20 days from the date of the contract.
The bench ordered that work related to the replacement of old and damaged water pipes in these houses and around them should in any case be completed by August 2025 and any failure would seriously perceive the court.
At the time of the wastewater treatment plant, the DJB attorney informed the court about the ongoing removal work, which would be completed by August.
In his report on the status report, he said that the water distribution system in Yojana Vihar was installed 35 years ago, exceeded its service life and required a comprehensive replacement.
DJB assured that it was performing work on the replacement of water distribution network and preference by damaged partitions based on the availability of the budget.
The court ordered DJB to make an affidavit, which gives the timeline to be replaced by the entire water distribution network in the area.
“We will also direct that DJB authorities should be alert and take the appropriate measures to control that they do not use the inhabitants of the area during uninterrupted hours, and if any residents indulge in in this respect, the necessary measures will be taken,” Lavička said.
The thing will be heard on August 13th.
The court previously ordered DJB to ensure that the inhabitants of pure drinking water.
Attorney Dhruv Gupta gave a saw and claimed that the health and safety of the population of Yojan Vihar, Anand Vihar, Jagriti Enclave and other nearby areas in East Delhi were threatened due to contamination.
