
The Dilli government will soon complete the main plan for the city, said the Minister of Public Works (PWD) Parvesh Verma on Saturday.
On the project, since 2021, the department has divided the city into three river basins: Najafgarh Basin, Barapullah Basin and Trans-Yamuna Basin and hovering offers for each of them.
PTI informed that he quoted officials that the drainage system Delhi, designed in 1976, was able to handle only up to 50 mm rain in a single day.

“Reports from consultants will be presented in the next 15 days for Masterplan Drainage Masterplan Delhi, after which will be studied and work will start,” Verma said.
Consultants will present a fresh design for a drainage network with a view to be able to handle contemporary and future stress sufficiently, he added.
The Delhi Council manages the sewerage drains of the city, while the Public Work Department (PWD) is in charge of rainwater drains along the main roads. Larger drains, as well as the drain of Najafgarh, fall into the responsibility of the Department of irrigation and floods.
In 2018, Iit-Delhi prepared the main plan of the drainage plan, but the government called it “general nature” and stated that it provides “no proposed action points that can be clearly cut”.

In November 2021, the government decided to hire experienced consultants for a more complex drainage plan, the officials said.
