Former South African captain AB de Villiers made a sincere and surprising revelation of his time with Delhi Daredevils (now known as Delhi Capitals). In a recent interview with Cricket.com, the legend Indian Premier League (IPL) was thinking about his early years in the tournament and how franchise fought internally, even though it boasted with a star line -up.
De Villiers, who played for Delhi from 2008 to 2010, stopped the naming of individuals, but offered a rare view of the backstage dysfunction.
“I would not like to give you people who attacked your names, but those that Delhi Daredevils were in ruins. There were many poisonous characters in this team,” he said.
Squad, which contained cricket heavy weight such as Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Shikhar Dhawan, Glenn McGrath and Daniel Vetori, did not meet expectations. Although in the first two seasons he performed play -offs, the team never completely restless.
“There were a lot of legends, which makes a bitter memory for me.
While his 2009 season in South Africa recorded a consistent performance, the following year it brought frustration. The lack of playing time and clarity of his role led to disillusionment, which eventually caused his departure from the franchise.
“The year 2009 was nice. I played almost the whole season in South Africa, returned, and I thought I would be the man. Then, suddenly I didn’t play again,” he recalled.
“They were mixed feelings. I was told to be preserved, and then I saw myself in the auction next minute. I didn’t even know what had happened.
De Villiers eventually moved to Royal Challengers Bengalur (RCB) in 2011-Zlom in his career IPL. He immediately felt at home with his new team, which he gave his support he missed.
“On the day I walked into RCB, I felt like they wanted me to play every game. I was so surprised. Just went:” You’re a man. Done and dusted. “
Although he left the IPL without winning the player’s title, De Villiers was at the stalls when the RCB finally intertwined the trophy. At about the same time he also celebrated a greater national triumph and watched, as South Africa beats Australia to win the World Test Championship.
