The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Tuesday (Nov 18, 2025) warned TV channels against airing sensitive content related to the car bomb blast, including videos of accused persons justifying acts of violence.
The alert was issued hours after some news channels aired an undated video purportedly of Umar un Nabi, a doctor who was said to be behind the wheel of the car that exploded near Red Fort in Delhi on November 10.
“This ministry has noticed that some news channels are airing content related to alleged persons involved in the Red Fort blast, justifying their violent acts, as well as information/videos on how to make explosive material,” the adviser said.
“Such broadcasts may inadvertently incite or incite violence, disrupt public order and pose a risk to national security. All TV channels are advised to maintain the utmost discretion and sensitivity while reporting on such matters,” the ministry said, advising caution.
“Broadcasters must ensure strict compliance with the Programming and Advertising Code under the Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act, 1995. Such broadcasts may violate the Cable Television Network Rules,” it said.
The ministry has flagged rules for content that is “likely to incite or incite violence, contains anything against the maintenance of law and order or promotes anti-national attitudes; contains anything affecting the integrity of the nation”.
“All television channels are further advised to avoid telecasting that may aid, abet or promote illegal activities,” he added.
