According to CBC, citing Reuters, the Canadian police had previously arrested Gosal for charging the firearms in Ontario. He is considered a close associate of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, another Khalistan terrorist who was shot in June 2023 in front of Gurdwar in British Columbia.

Meanwhile, Gosal himself claimed that the police in Canada warned him of the threats for their lives, noted CBC, quoting Reuters. Officials have previously confirmed that such warnings were issued to several Sikh activists in the country.
