Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu on Saturday visited the air traffic control (ATC) tower at the Delhi airport after the technical glitch and asked officials to conduct a detailed root cause analysis.
Sharing photos from a visit to the ATC tower at Delhi airport to assess traffic in a post on X, Naidu said. “Over the past two days, teams from AAI, ANS and ECIL have worked tirelessly to identify and resolve the issue while ensuring the safety of passengers through manual coordination.”
Stating that systems are now fully restored, Naidu added, “further directed officials to conduct a detailed root cause analysis and increase system redundancy to make our ATC network more future-proof.”
“No flight was canceled today due to this matter,” the civil aviation ministry said in a statement on Saturday evening.
The ministry added that the system was fully restored to automatic mode on the afternoon of November 8 and there were no flight cancellations due to the problem today.
Naidu also instructed officials to plan for further improvements to the system, including additional or backup servers to boost ATC operations.
“The Minister has directed ECIL CMD to deploy additional technical force to expedite recovery efforts. To minimize passenger inconvenience, the Minister has also directed that more ATC personnel be deployed at Delhi Airport to support manual operations and ensure smooth air traffic management during the system outage,” the ministry said.
Flights delayed, cancelled
The Civil Aviation Ministry said in a statement that the issue led to the delay and cancellation of 46 flights.
“All flight operations are normal at Delhi airport… passengers are advised to stay in touch with their respective airlines for the latest flight updates,” DIAL said in a post on X.
The Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in the national capital, which has four runways, handles more than 1,500 flights daily.
All flight operations are normal, the official said.
