A week after the academic year 2025-26 began across the state, academic activities have to take off in 150 Moulan Azad model schools operated by minority departments (MWD) due to lack of teachers.
In essence, the ministry failed to appoint teachers visiting schools before the reopening of schools. In the middle of a strong opposition for the first time in the state, the Ministry organized an initial test on June 2. It is expected to take at least 20 days to evaluate these test documents and select teachers. Until then, academic activities in these schools will be suspended. More than 12,000 applicants wrote an entry test for guest teachers.
Out of the total of 250 model schools Moulan Azad, the state government has adopted and sent only to 100 schools and the remaining 150 schools are entirely dependent on guest teachers. Until the visiting teachers were selected, one teacher was temporarily commissioned by other schools operated by the department.
Delay of hits of academic activity
The lack of teachers at Moulan Azad model schools has already influenced the academic performance of students in these schools. While boarding schools operated by MWD recorded the result of 80.61% in class 10 tests for 2024-25, Moulana AZAD model School recorded 51.13% this year.
The director of one of Moullan Azad model schools pointed out how the Ministry of School Education and Literacy hired 51,000 guest teachers before the reopening of schools, but not the social care department. “Given the disproportionate delay, change of politicians and negligence of MWD authorities, there are no teachers in Moulan schools, even though the schools have reopened. If they wanted to organize an entrance test to select teachers, they had to take place during the summer holidays, not 2.
Another director lamented that it was difficult to teach children until the appointment of guest teachers. “We cannot perform any work, including students of students, carrying out bridge courses, lessons and other activities. This delay will affect the quality of education of children studying in these schools in this academic year,” he said.
