Lucknow Super Giants captain Rishabh Pant believes the upcoming week’s break could be the reset his side desperately needs after their crushing Super Over defeat to Kolkata Knight Riders at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Sunday, April 26.
LSG’s season hit a new low a defeat that left them at the bottom of the IPL 2026 points table, with just two wins from eight games. In a campaign where very little has gone wrong, Sunday’s result felt like another painful reminder of how quickly their season is slipping away.

“I think we definitely need a break,” Pant said after the match, admitting his team needed time to mentally recover and regroup after another devastating loss.
LSG vs KKR: PANT DEMANDS ACCOUNTABILITY
Pant made it clear that outside noise or quick fixes will not solve LSG’s problems. Instead, he called on the entire squad to take responsibility for the team’s poor performance, stressing that the onus cannot continue to fall on just a handful of players.
“I think we’ll be refreshed. There’s always pressure and it’s always going to be a pressure game. But at the same time, we’ve got to find the answers inside, not outside. We’ve just got to keep it simple. Every person has to be accountable. It can’t be about one or two. It’s got to be about the whole unit,” Pant said.
His comments reflected the mood of a side low on confidence and still searching for answers in a season that has quickly disintegrated.
LSG vs KKR: PANT ARGUMENTS SUPER BEFORE CALLS
Pant also defended the call to send Nicholas Pooran into a pressure situation despite the left-hander’s slump in form. Pooran remains one of the most devastating batsmen in T20 cricket and Pant said the decision was based on confidence.
“We had a discussion as a group and the name that came up was Nicky P. He might not be in the best form of his life but at the same time you trust your player in a tough situation like this and hope he does well,” Pant said.
The LSG captain also stood by his bowling challenges, including the decision to trust his bowlers at key moments despite the game slipping away late.
“I was looking for a wicket. I just didn’t get it. That was the thought process behind it,” Pant said.
For now, Pant’s message was clear. LSG need to stop, reset and take responsibility before their season goes beyond repair.
