Agriculture activity was influenced in 11 out of 27 Mandals of the Vizianagaram district due to precipitation with deficit during the current Kharif season.
Farmers in Vangar, Regidi Amadalavasa, Rajam, Bobbili, Ramabhadrapuram, Gajapathinagaram Garivivi, Cheepurupalli and other seasonal Mandals.
For example, Vangara Mandal received only 157 mm precipitation against average rainfall of 162.2 mm, while Gantyada received 140 mm compared to normal 190.6 mm with rainfall.
Farmers who received water from Madduvalay, Thiots and other tanks are relatively safe. In the absence of irrigation, however, most farmers in the district relies only on rain to irrigate their fields. The total sowing activity in the district has declined significantly. Agriculture officials remain promising and in the third week of July, other precipitation for the Meteorological Department for the district forecasts in the district.
The leader of CPIM Reddi Shankar Rao urged the government to provide financial assistance to farmers who were unable to sow due to lack of precipitation and irrigation.
The YSRCC leaders sought the financial assistance of 20,000 GBP for every farmer within the Ryth Bharosa system, which was carried out during the existence of former main Minister Ys Jagan Mohan Reddy regime.
