Minister of Defense Rajesh Kumar Singh on Thursday (July 17, 2025) praised teams that went to climbing on Mount Everest and Mount Kilimanjaro.
The expedition to Mount Everest was carried out in memory of 60 years of the nestor institute of mountaineering (NI), Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand.

The Minister of Defense praised the irrelevant spirit of both teams and stressed that these missions were not only about the scaling of the peaks, but also about the demonstration of Indian Excellency and leadership in adventure sports activities.
Teams by successfully overthrow Mount Everest and Mount Kilimanjaro created new benchmarks to inspire young climbers across the country and worldwide, he said.
Mr. Singh said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always emphasized the importance of strengthening the position of youth, self -confidence and adventure as a source of building strong, durable and fearless India. As examples of the Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering and Winter Sports (Jim & WS) and the National Institute for Mountaineering and Adventure Sports (Nimas) as examples of this vision called four mountaineering institutes of the Ministry of Defense – Nim, Himalayan climbing institute (HMI).
