Kerala State Literacy Mission’s ‘Deepti Braille Literacy’ scheme, which provides braille literacy to the visually impaired, is an excellent initiative, said Minister for Higher Education and Social Justice R. Bindu.
She was speaking after inaugurating the distribution of certificates to the participants of the skill development training held under the Deepti program on Thursday.
The minister said that this system enables people with different abilities to enter the world of letters. According to her, the training would reduce the gap between education and training.
Literacy Mission Director AG Oleena said Deepti’s influence goes beyond Braille training for the visually impaired.
Antony Raju, MLA presided over the event. ASAP Kerala President Usha Titus said that communication is the strength of a human being. Understanding the role of language in improving one’s abilities is what will lead people to new job opportunities.
Skill training was conducted with the support of ASAP Kerala and Federation of the Blind for 15 selected students of Deepti from various districts under ‘Customer Care Executive and IT’ in August.
