On Sunday, the Secretary General of the whole India (AICC) Deep Dasmunshi accused Modi’s government of subverting the right to the information law through (RTI) changes. She said that she addressed a press conference here, said the Union’s government had captivated the power of information commissioners who had a fixed period of 5 years and guaranteed the conditions of service, through amendment in 2019.
The Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 has expanded the scope of personal data. The provisions that personal data cannot be published even in the public interest has destroyed the essence of the law. The Central Information Committee has only two members instead of 11 due to non -fulfillment of vacancies. Even the contribution of the main information commissioner has been free from September 2025.
The situation is similar in many countries. There are about 23,000 cases in the Central Information Commission. Information about Crors spent on foreign trips of the Prime Minister, death due to lack of oxygen during Covid and using the PM Cares Fund, claimed, Mrs. Dasmunshi.
She claimed that the Keraly government also took several steps to weaken the law of RTI. The state government refused to information about the police such as detention, she said.
