The writer Deep Bhasthi, whose English translation of Mushtaq’s Kannada Work Edey Hanate (Heart Lamp) won the prestigious International Booker Prize 2025, was her Alma Maler and local leader in Madikeri on Saturday.
Her residence visited her residence to honor her remarkable literary success, the Association of Old Field Marshal students of KM Cariappa College, where Mrs. Bhasthi watched her education, college director, lecturers and wearers of the office to honor her remarkable literary success.
B. Raghav, the headmistress of the university, praised Mrs. Bhasthi for her literary success and noted that international recognition brought an institution of immense pride.
“The success of one of our old students was pride for the university of the matter,” he added.
BB Aiyapp President emphasized the difficulty of translating regional literature without losing his emotional depth, and praised the master rendering of Mrs. Bhasthi, who resonated with the global audience.
The MLA for Madikeri Mantar Gowda was also presented on Saturday by Mrs. Bhasthi Mrs. Bhasthi. He praised her contribution to literature and stated that her success had placed Kodag on a global literary map. He said the government would support her future literary initiative and described it as an inspiration for students and young writers.
Mr. Gowda also noted that it was encouraging to see literature about a caliber that appears from the quiet environment of Kodag. There are plans for the organization of interactions between Mrs. Bhasthi and students from local institutions to support interest in literature and translation, he added.
Mrs. Bhasthi said that the translation lasted almost three years of work and is now preparing for literary contracts in London and other cities. Among the present were the husband of Mrs. Bhasthi Chettira Nanaiah, her parents Prakash and Sudha Bhasthi.
