Former Indian Wicketkeeper Deep Dasgupta suggested that it could be time to move from the returning Karun Nair after a series of failure in India vs England’s test series. Dasgupta showed his support to a capable young man – Sai Sudharsan, who was launched after the opening test match after the opening test match of the series.
Karun Nair completed a lot of reflector during the team announcement for this series. Karun was a focus after raking in an incredible number of runs in the ranja Trophy, which eventually led to his return to the side after 8 long years. The dough, however, did not use the maximum of its six opportunities and scored only 131 runs.
With India ending 1-2 in a series of five matches against England, questions were raised over Nair’s place in XI. Dasgupta suggested that it is probably time to pass on position 3 to the energy young man as a long -term plan for the national team.
“What I would look at is number three. Karun Nair would continue, or want to invest in a young player like Sai Sudharsan, who looked comfortable in the last shifts he played in the first test match?” Dasgupta said PTI.
Sudharsan, on the other hand, had a debut to forget. After his first game he was dropped in Leeds.
“It is young and investment in the future. I think Karun has his chances. It’s not a chance. More than what he looked like. He looked comfortable in patches, but some questions are still unanswered. And that’s what makes me think differently,” he said.
In six shifts he played during the series, Nair managed to get decent starts, but could not convert them to a meaningful score. Although he looked assured with his front leg, his discomfort against supplies rising from unpleasant lengths remains visible weakness.
India, which detonates in the third, needs reliability – something that NAIR did not bring completely, even though it has gained its return to the back of a fixed home season.
Dasgupta also pointed out that the series is not far from the end, and India still has a real chance to turn things around. “You are still very much in the series, because even this test match at Lord was extremely close. It could go in two way,” he concluded.
The fourth test could prove to be a decisive moment not only for India, but also for the future of Karun Naira in the international cricket.
