On Friday, the Supreme Court modified its 11th August directive, which banned the release of stray dogs from shelters in Delhi and neighboring areas. The court has now stated that pick -up dogs must be sterilized, vaccinated and then released back in the same area. The decision was praised by several people on the social media who stated that it was “possible because of the unity of dog lovers”.
The bench with the three -judge, led by Judge Vikran Nath, also explained that the order does not apply to dogs infected with rabies or those showing “aggressive” behavior.
At the same time, some users criticized the decision and called it “poor” and claimed that sterilization would not solve the problem of rabies.

The court banned the feeding of stray dogs in public places. Feeding must only take place in designated areas identified by municipal authorities, with regard to local demography.
