Shimjitha Mustafa, who was accused of abetment of suicide in connection with the death of U. Deepak of Govindapuram in Kozhikode, filed a complaint of alleged sexual abuse.
Shimjitha is currently remanded in judicial custody at Manjeri Jail. The complaint was emailed to the Payyannur police on Thursday. According to the complaint, she was sexually harassed while traveling by private bus from Payyannur railway station to the bus stand last Friday evening. The Payyannur police have started a preliminary investigation into the allegations.
Deepak died by suicide after posting an Instagram video that allegedly led to his public humiliation and character assassination, according to police records. Shimjitha was arrested by the Kozhikode Medical College police from a relative’s house in Vadakara on Wednesday. She was then brought before a court, which sent her to judicial custody for 14 days on charges of inciting suicide.
