More than a fortnight after a pick-up driver was crushed to death under a collapsed girder installed as part of the six-lane Aroor–Thuravur elevated expressway, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has blacklisted the company for alleged construction lapses.
The company was identified as Ashoka Buildcon, which was carrying out the construction of the Aroor–Thuravur flyover on NH 66. According to NHAI sources, the company has been temporarily barred from participating in NHAI tenders for a month.
The accident occurred on November 13, when a beam fell on the victim’s moving vehicle. The deceased was identified as Rajesh, a native of Pallippad, Haripad.
The incident sparked widespread protests against both the company and the NHAI.
