Former Indian cricket legend Syed Kirmani expressed concern about the tragic death of 11 fans of Royal Challengers Bengalur (RCB) during the celebrations of victory at the M Chinnaswama stadium. The incident occurred when local authorities were unable to manage massive participation during the celebrations organized by the RCB administration and the Karnataka government in honor of the newly crowned IPL champions.Kirmani, who was part of the Indian winning team of the 1983 World Cup, offered condolences to surviving families and at the same time thinking about the changing nature of fans’ culture.“My condolences to the surviving families. It was a deadly welcome of the IPL masters. There was no such media hype in our time, and there was no television and there was nothing that could lead to these things,” Kirmani told India today.Former Wicketkeeper, who played 88 tests for India, suggested that the celebration could be better scheduled with proper arrangement.

“In this number, I assume that if RCB waited 17 (18) years before the champion and organizers became who could wait for a while to settle down, and then organize the show to felicit these big heroes.”Kirmani asked if such enthusiasm of fans would be shown to win Karnataka Ranji Trophy, emphasizing the development of cricket fandom.Who is the IPL player?“The fans of our time were not as crazy as the fans of today’s and especially in the IPL, the crazy fans are unimaginable, especially when you saw the lakhs and lakhs were just to look at these big heroes.”Stampede resulted in the unexpectedly large crowd assembly to celebrate the victory of the RCB championship, leading to an unfortunate loss of lives at the stadium.
