Delhi Capitals co-owner and chairman Parth Jindal has rallied behind his team ahead of the crucial IPL 2026 clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, calling it a turning point in their campaign. With Delhi Capitals sitting sixth with three wins from seven matches, the pressure is on to revive their playoff run.
When Jindal got to X, he urged unity in the team and the support of the fans at a critical time.
“Time to fire up @DelhiCapitals, we all know how good this team is – time to be together, time to play together and time to bring our best cricket to the @IPL – this is where our season really begins.”
The message is coming after a heavy defeat with the kings of Punjab, where DC failed to defend 264, a result that exposed key gaps despite a strong batting performance.
WHY IS RCB CLASH IMPORTANT FOR DC?
The clash against RCB is crucial to the trajectory of Delhi’s season. With just three wins in seven games, DC are out of the top four and need a quick boost to stay in the playoffs.
Their loss to Punjab highlighted the recurring problems. Despite posting one of the highest totals of the season, they conceded 265, raising serious concerns about their death bowling and fielding standards.
Facing an RCB side that is second in the table with five wins from seven matches and a high net rate, the challenge is significant. RCB’s batting line-up has consistently crossed the 200-run mark this season, so ball discipline is key for Delhi.
There are also selection concerns. Lungi Ngidi, who has seven goals this season, may miss out after a recent injury. Mitchell Starc has joined the squad but is still working his way back to match fitness, which could push Dushmantha Chameera into a bigger role.
HOW WAS DC IN IPL 2026?
The Delhi campaign followed a familiar pattern. They started with two wins but have since lost four of their last five games and dropped down the table.
Batting was a clear positive. KL Rahul and Nitish Rana put together a massive 220-run stand against Punjab which underlined their form. A middle order with Tristan Stubbs and David Miller has added stability while options like Sameer Rizvi and Ashutosh Sharma provide depth.
However, the bowling numbers tell a different story. Only two DC bowlers feature in the top 20 wickets this season, with captain Axar Patel and Ngidi leading the way with seven wickets each. A lack of consistency on the power play and at the death hurt them repeatedly.
Historically, RCB have dominated this fixture, winning 20 of the 34 matches between the sides, while Delhi have managed 13 wins without a single result. One of those wins came earlier this season when Miller’s match-winning effort helped DC overcome RCB.
