Delhi Capitals fast bowler Lungi Ngidi returned to full fitness to replace Kyle Jamieson in the playing eleven for DC’s IPL 2026 match against Chennai Super Kings at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday, May 5, after completing a mandatory layoff due to concussion. Delhi Capitals won the toss and chose to bat in the group clash.
IPL, DC vs CSK: UPDATE | SCORECARD
Ngidi has missed Delhi’s last two matches after sustaining a head injury during DC’s match against Punjab Kings on April 25. The South African pacer fell awkwardly while attempting a catch to dismiss PBKS opener Priyansh Arya and was later taken to hospital for evaluation.
After being released from BLK-Max Super Specialty Hospital later that evening, Ngidi suffered a mandatory concussion recovery protocol, forcing him to sit out for nearly a week.
Delhi Capitals bowling coach Munaf Patel confirmed on Monday that the pacer is now fully fit and available for selection against Chennai.
“All the bowlers are fit and Lungi is 100 per cent fit as he has not played two matches due to the six-day criteria. But now he is 100 per cent fit,” Munaf said at the pre-match press conference.
While the return of Ngidi boosts the pace of DC’s attack, youngster Sahil Parakh is still recovering from a facial injury. Sri Lankan batsman Pathum Nissanka is expected to continue at the top of the order, while David Miller is likely to remain on the bench again.
Delhi Capitals Playing XI: Pathum Nissanka, KL Rahul (wk), Nitish Rana, Tristan Stubbs, Ashutosh Sharma, Sameer Rizvi, Axar Patel (capt), Mitchell Starc, Lungi Ngidi, Kuldeep Yadav, T Natarajan.
