Columbia County Undersheriff Jacqueline Salvatore confirmed that the accident was fatal, but did not specify the number of victims, as stated by AP.
The Federal Air Administration said Mitsubishi Mu-2B is heading to Columbia County Airport near Hudson, but crashed about 30 miles away near KOPAKE.
“Mud, weather and snow made it difficult to get to the place,” Salvatore said.
The National Transport Safety Council said it has deployed an investigation team that expected to arrive in New York on Saturday evening.
