The National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin on Thursday (August 7, 2025), the officials confirmed here. Sources indicated the importance of the meeting because the day after US President Donald Trump imposed more tariffs in India and quoted the ongoing purchase of Russian oil by Indian entities.
Previously, when he spoke to the Russian Secretary of Security Council Sergei Shoig, Mr. Doval said that the plans for the Indian visit to President Putin are “almost completed”. During her exchanges, NSA thanked Russia for the support of India after the terrorist attack of Pahalgam 22 April and said that the Indian “strategic and special partnership” with Russia is of increased importance because the world is going through a “turbulent situation”.
