David Beckham, Gary Oldman and Roger Daltrey are among the most important names that this year accept Knights in the Birthday List of King Charles III.
The honors granted twice a year recognize exceptional contributions to public life, with the latest list of successes in sport, art and charity organization.
Meet the latest knights of England
Former English football captain David Beckham, 50, was a knight for his services for sports and charity. Beckham, known worldwide for his football career, won 115 caps for England and played for the best clubs, including Manchester United, Real Madrid and La Galaxy.
Outside the playground he has worked with UNICEF since 2005 and in 2023 he became the Ambassador of the King Foundation. His knightly means his wife Victoria Beckham will be formally stylized as Lady Beckham.
Oscar-playing actor Gary Oldman, 67, was also honored for the service of drama. With a career lasting decade, Oldman is well known for his roles in the Harry Potter series and the Dark Knights Trilogy. In 2018 he won the Academy Award for his performance as Winston Churchill in the darkest hour.
Roger Daltrey, 81, the iconic front of Man of Rock Band The Who, received his knight for charity services. Daltrey has supported Trust for adolescent cancer for over 20 years and helped win millions of annual Royal Albert Hall concerts. Although the WHO was created in 1964, Daltrey remains one of the two surviving founding members.
The list of honors is prepared by the United Kingdom’s government and signed by a monarch, with nominee reviewed independent panels. This year, the previous recipients included Stephen Fry and Gareth Southgate in the New Year list.
This latest honor celebrates individuals who have left a permanent brand in their fields, both at home and on the global scene.
