V. Sofia, daughter of bus conductor Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC), recorded 499 stamps out of 500 secondary school tests leaving the certificate (SSLC).
Mrs. Sofia studied at the Gocilambala matriculation of the High School in Kuzhavadayan near Jayamkondam. She gained a cent in English, science, mathematics and social science. In Tamil she was her score of 99. Her father Venkatesan works as a conductor in the TNSTC in the district of Thanjavur. Her mother Satya is in the home. Brother Sofia Vignesh studies engineering at PSG College of Technology in Coimbatore.
The Sofia House in Kurich, a small village in the Thanjavur district, is 7 km from its school in the Ariyalur district. She had to travel a day 14 km. “I knew I would get good grades. But it is a pleasant surprise when I knew I was a topper. I devote this success to my father, mother and brother,” says Mrs. Sofia.
