The story of Darwin Nunez Liverpool has ended and it is fair to say that it was not a fairy tale that many expected. On Sunday, the Uruguaya striker completed his transition to the heavy weight of Saudi for Al Hillal league and sealed a three -year agreement worth EUR 53 million (46.3 m).
A 26 -year -old man arrived at Anfield in 2022 with a fanfare, fireworks and a large 64m price mark after Portuguese football lighting with Benfika. Liverpool Faithful hoped he had landed an attacker who had terrorized defense for years. Reality? Mixed bag. Before managed 40 goals in 143 games for Reds, but never really did not have a consistent starting place and started only eight league games last season, which won the title.
And this summer was writing fine and really on the wall. Liverpool sprayed cash like Hugo Ekitike, Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong – a clear sign of the game time has become even more reduced. Add to the club’s significant exodus-lis DAZ, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Caoimhin Kelleher, Jarell Quansah and Tyler Morton to sell Liverpool’s summer income to almost EUR 200 million.
For Nunez, it offers Moving to Al Hillal a clean slate. He has already joined their pre -season camp in Germany, where Saudi champions are preparing for another stars campaign. Al Hilal, who was to attract top European talents on the mission, hopes that Nunez’s pace, strength and Pyochar instincts can return under the new surroundings.
Meanwhile, Liverpool’s offensive plans may not be completed. Nunez’s departure could focus on NewCastle’s Alexander Isak, although their initial 110 million offers have already been rejected.
It is the end of the chapter that promised more than it was delivered – Nunez’s stay Anfield will remember the moments of chaos, flashes of brilliance and the persistent sense of “what if”.
