The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on Monday (June 2, 2025) took Suo Motu recognition of reports in which the inhabitants of the Siang district opposed the proposed construction of the dam and retain that this may result in relocation and adversely affect livelihoods and ecology.
According to reports on May 23, 2025, an activist of human rights led and agreed forums of Siang native farmers protest against the construction of a dam in the village of Beging, in which approximately 400 people participated.
The government deployed the central armed forces in different areas of the state to resolve the situation. The Commission, which observed that the matter raised serious issues of human rights violations, issued the announcement to the Chief Secretary and the CEO of the Police ARUNACHAL PRADESH and called for a detailed report on this matter within two weeks.
