Fifteen years after the 17 -year -old girl Dalits disappeared from Kanhangad, the crime branch of Keral confirmed that it was a murder, and arrested the main accused Biju Paulos, 52 years, a civic supplier and a motivational spokesman from Panithur.
The case saw the progress after the bone fragment and the necklace found near the coast of Kasaragod in 2010 was recently identified as belonging to the missing girl. During the interrogation, Biju reportedly confessed to killing a girl.
A girl, a native of Balamthod in the barraragod, came to Kanhangad to undergo teachers’ training and stay in the hostel. Last time she was seen on June 6, 2010. Her father filed a complaint of a missing person on January 19, 2011.
According to a crime branch (CB), the accused was reportedly in a relationship with a girl and allegedly distorted his family status. The accused allegedly lived with a girl in a rented house in Madiyan, Kanhangada and performed as her brother. According to CB, it is assumed that the argument of the Biju family status has occurred before the alleged murder.
The case was reopened after the girl’s family moved the High Court in 2021 and was looking for a thorough investigation. The CB investigation, under the supervision of P. Prakash, the general inspector of the police, eventually led to the arrest of the Biju in Wayanad on Friday evening (16 May).
Biju was reserved for accusation of rape and kidnapping in the relevant parts of the SC/ST law (Prevention of Atrocity). As far as the media is concerned, Mr. Prakash said that murder charges would be added if the DNA test confirmed the identity of the restored residues.
The investigation was led by Mr. P. Prakasha with a team consisting of the Police Superintendent Prajeesh Thotathil, Dysp Madhusoodhanan Nair, Inspector Sreekumar M., PM Libi, Sub-In-Intecutors (Tricaripur) and M. Manoj (Nilesararm), Nilesararm) Polilionsal) and Civional Policiber.
