Preparations for the upcoming international event Yoga Day cause serious disruption to traffic throughout the city, especially the impact on the Indira Gandhi Zoo park to Maddilapal Junction. The authorities limited the entry of vehicles to Beach Road from iodugullapal to RK Beach, which led to a serious overload.
On Wednesday (June 18, 2025), vehicles moved at a snail pace between Adarsh Nagar Junction and Maddilapal. Although the flow of operation relaxed a little during the afternoon, it deteriorated again.
Motorists were seen in operation on the bumper on the bumper on the section from the countryside crossroads to the Junction Hanumanthawak. The stuck vehicles included school buses, auto-ricks and even ambulances.
“We were expecting traffic jams with regard to the Yoga Day event, but not so early. The authorities could use at least one strip of beach roads by June at least 19 June,” said commuters, visibly frustrated by Junction.
The worst were people visiting offices and exams. DSC candidates, who have a test scheduled for June 19, accepted calls from the authorities and urged to start the test center soon due to expected delay in operation.
The staff of the operation and the Civic Police were deployed in large numbers to handle the situation. When attempting to alleviate traffic overload, traffic signals were deactivated and drones were used for air monitoring and coordination.
Interior Minister V. Anith admitted the growth and assured that the police were trying to manage the situation and minimize disruption.
