
The India Meteorological Department has announced that the landfalling process has begun for Cyclone Montha and will continue for the next three to four hours.
“It will continue to move north-northwestward and cross Andhra Pradesh coast between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam around Kakinada as a severe cyclonic storm with maximum sustained winds of 90-100 kmph gusting to 110 kmph during the next 3-4 hours,” the IMD said in a post on X.
Montha, which is a Thai word, means fragrant flower.
