Principal Secretary and Special CS (Energy) K. Vijayanand lauded the personnel of the Electricity Department for their commendable service in ensuring power supply to the public during Cyclone Montha by effectively overcoming adverse conditions.
According to CS, the DISCOMs suffered a loss of nearly ₹ 17.84 crore due to damage to their infrastructure.
He said in a press release that over 11,000 personnel from various cadres have been deployed in the affected areas to prevent interruption of electricity supply.
He said that alternative measures have been taken to ensure uninterrupted supply to the public wherever there are obstacles to restoration of power supply and mentioned that 100% restoration of power supply will be completed by October 30.
Regarding the AP-Transco network, Mr. Vijayanand said problems were reported in nine 220kV substations, four 400kV substations and eleven 132kV substations and immediate steps were taken to resolve all of them.
He appreciated the dedicated continuous efforts of DISCOMs CMDs I. Prudhvi Teje, L. Siva Shankar and P. Pulla Reddy and AP-Genco MD S. Nagalakshmi and AP-Transco Joint MD Surya Sai Praveen Chand and their teams for the preventive and restoration activities undertaken by them.
