Cyberabad traffic police nabbed 182 motorists during weekend DUI checks

Cyberabad traffic police nabbed 182 motorists during a special drive under the influence of alcohol that took place over the weekend.

Of the total number of offenders, 154 were on two-wheelers and seven on three-wheelers. Another 20 drove four-wheelers and one drove a heavy vehicle.

According to police, 149 offenders recorded a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) between 36mg/100ml and 200mg/100ml. Another 25 had BAC levels ranging from 201mg/100ml to 300mg/100ml, while eight recorded BAC levels between 301mg/100ml and 550mg/100ml. All 182 offenders will be brought to court for further proceedings.

The police also said that between August 24 and 29, the courts dealt with 308 cases of driving under the influence of alcohol. Of these, 301 offenders were fined, seven were sentenced to a fine along with community service and one person was given a fine along with imprisonment.
