
A three-day celebration of fitness, discipline and camaraderie within the police force came to a colorful end on Thursday as the 8th Annual Cyberabad Police Sports, Games and Work Meet concluded with a grand ceremony at the Cyberabad Parade at Gachibowli.
The closing ceremony was attended by Telangana Director General of Police B. Shivadhar Reddy as the chief guest and witnessed enthusiastic participation of police personnel from all zones and specialized wings. Earlier in the day, the DGP inaugurated a renovated police canteen with a brand name – The Cop Café – on the premises of the Cyberabad police station, marking another step to improve welfare facilities for the personnel.
On arrival at the parade ground, the DGP was given a unique welcome when a trained police dog presented him with a basket of flowers, which drew applause from the audience and dignitaries. He later eliminated the men’s and women’s 100 meters, one of the highlights of the final day. In men, Ramesh of CSW secured the first place, followed by Venkatesh and Vishnu of CAR Headquarters. In the women’s race, Gayathri of CAR Headquarters took first place, Yamuna came second and Renuka of CSW came third.
Cyberabad Police Commissioner Avinash Mohanty congratulated all the participants and noted that 1,022 personnel participated in a wide range of competitions over the three days, including athletics, team sports and indoor games.
Several competitive events attracted attention during the meet, including a badminton doubles match in which CAR Headquarters DCP Sanjeev and SOT DCP Shoban Kumar won against a team comprising Rajendranagar DCP Yogesh Gautam and Madhapur DCP Ritiraj. The awards were presented by the DGP.
The ceremony was attended by senior officers including Joint Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners from various zones and wings and personnel of all ranks.
