
Two new civic bodies carved out of the expanded Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will get major funds from the government for works that require immediate attention.
This was announced by Special General Secretary, Urban Administration and Urban Development and Special Officer of the three newly formed corporations Jayesh Ranjan after convening standing committee meetings in all the three corporations. Chief Secretary Ramakirshna Rao also attended the meeting at Cyberabad Municpal Corporation.
Talking to the media after a meeting at the GHMC headquarters on Thursday, he said a decision has been taken to allocate ₹500 crore to the Malkajgiri and Cyberabad Municipal Corporations in view of the six-month work season that will begin now.
The regular expenses of the corporations, including salary payments, will be met from the general funds of the GHMC till March 31 as the bills are yet to be divided among the three bodies.
Task Force
Mr. Ranjan informed that a task force has been set up under the Center for Good Governance to finalize the reallocation of financial and manpower and distribution of assets and liabilities among the three corporations. The Task Force has expert members selected from the committee formed under the finance department earlier to finalize the assets and liabilities between the two states at the time of state bifurcation. They will come with a report within two weeks, he said.
He reviewed sanitation, solid waste management, alternative landfill sites, flooding issues, infrastructure projects, manpower requirements, public response to complaints and other issues.
