The 26-year-old won 4-1 on a split verdict in the round of 32 at Glasgow’s SEC Centre, overcoming an opponent he had beaten twice before.“It was a tough match but I had beaten him twice before so I was pretty confident,” said Sachin. “It was important for me to defeat him today because it was at the Commonwealth Games.”Siwach will face England’s William Hewitt in the round of 16.

Turf: Rupa-Pinki remain unbeaten, Sonowal suffers first defeat

The Indians won the opening set 5-2 before Tonga bounced back to claim the second 6-4. Artistic Gymnastics: India finished fifth in Sub-Division 3

Gymnasts previously competed on vault, uneven bars and balance beam before completing their moves on floor.

India’s pool challenge ended early as Dhakshan Shashikumar and Aryan Nehra failed to advance to the men’s 400m freestyle final.Shashikumar clocked 3:58.09 to finish 15th overall among 27 swimmers, while Nehra placed 16th in 4:00.26.Although Shashikumar was seventh halfway through his run, he was unable to maintain the pace needed to qualify.
