Gade Vijaya Lakshmi, mother of Gade Sai Krishna (25), who allegedly died due to torture in custody at Krishnalanka police station, appealed to the police to release her son’s mortal remains.

“My son was brutally tortured and killed by the police. I can perform the monthly rituals for my son if the police give me his mortal remains,” Ms Vijaya Lakshmi urged the SIT and NTR police.

Blaming the slowness of the investigation, she said the Krishnalanka police had received a custodial death complaint 15 days ago but had not done anything so far. The culprits in the case were moving freely, claimed Ms. Vijaya Lakshmi.

When asked about rumors that she was given any monetary benefits, Ms. Vijaya Lakshmi replied that she did not receive any money.

“I don’t want any benefits. I request the government to book the culprits and punish them. Many big people and top cops are involved in killing my son. But till date only five have been arrested,” she said.

“I have met many police officers for justice. In the last two months, I have been forced to run around the Krishnalanka police station and the authorities, but nothing has happened so far,” she said.

Meanwhile, the family members of Gade Sai Krishna were deposed before a magisterial inquiry at the sub-collector’s office on Saturday.

NTR District Collector G. Lakshmisha has ordered a judicial inquiry into the case.

Ms. Vijaya Lakshmi along with her family members submitted details of alleged illegal imprisonment, torture, custodial death and destruction of evidence in the case to Finance Division Officer (RDO), V. Srinivas, who is the Inquiry Officer. They also submitted related documents to investigators.

Human Rights Forum (HRF) State Secretary G. Rohith submitted a statement demanding that the judicial inquiry be withdrawn as the victim died during custodial torture.

“The investigation was illegal. Only a judicial magistrate should take up the inquiry into the alleged torture and death of Sai Krishna,” Rohith said.

Meanwhile, YSRCP leader Ambati Rambabu, who appeared before the judicial inquiry, submitted a statement to bring all the culprits to book and do justice to the victim’s family.
