On Monday, a literary festival called ALIF (Literary Forum Ahalia) began 2025 on Ahalia nearby. The writer of the NS Madhavan started the festival. The main guest was the writer TR Ajayan.
During an interview with the writer Shahina K. Rafeeq, Mr. Madhavan said that there was a “unexpressed emergency need” in today’s social context.
Mr. Madhavan drew from his personal experience the relevance of his writings in today’s context. He explained how history could interfere with seemingly secure spaces through unexpected roads.
The writer Prabha Varma, who spoke of the nature of poetry and the media, said that poetry could not be convened, nor can it be limited when it arrives. According to him, poetry is an emotional approach, while journalism requires a sophisticated approach.
Mr. Varma published a collection of poetry of writer-actress Meer Nair.
Writers Mrs. Ravikumar, Rajashree and PR Jayashree participated in a discussion of creative and critical literature. Mr. Ravikumar attributed his habits to reading for his development as a critic. Dr. Rajashree pointed out that reading is essential for critical thinking, and noted that social media is now an important factor in shaping critical discourse.
Vijay Babu, Abhilash Pillai and Vipin Das were attended by a discussion about the intersection of social media and Malaysian cinema. Mr. Babu stressed the interdependence of these two and emphasized the key role of social media in film marketing and its influence on the income of the audience.
