Revised policy of parking trucks designed by Chennai Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority (CUMTA) could reduce parking on the street by 70-80%and to free up space on public roads for public use.
According to a press release, the proposal includes the establishment of designated parking zones and forcing restrictions on long -term traffic parking on public roads.
The logistics logistics plan (CLP), prepared by CUMTA, outlined 10 strategies to improve urban transport across the Metropolitan area Chennai (CMA), including lowering a light utility vehicle (LCV) traveling by 4,000 to 6,000 vehicles-km (en-km).
According to CUMT, this redirection of this vehicle was reduced to reduce overload at key points by 25-40%.
The release added that the terminal and roads controlled in port access could shorten the waiting time by 60-75%.
He also stated that the land could move quickly using metro trains, helping to reduce travel time by 50% and reduce the number of light commercial vehicles on the roads. He added that moving more cargo on the railway can take 500-700 trucks every day from the city streets.
The release also mentioned that better planning for supplying goods such as fruits, vegetables and dairy could save 12 000-15 000 vehicles-km daily by reducing unnecessary paths and optimizing routes.
He also stated that the emission level may drop by 25-30% through the use of electric vehicles and green freight zones.
