Thousands of students participated in the 8th Amaravati Balotsav which started at PB Siddhartha College here on Tuesday. More than 10,000 students from 300 private and government schools from NTR, Eluru, Guntur and Krishna districts will participate in the three-day event.
The organizers arranged various places which were named after Vanajeevi Daripalli Ramaiah, dancer Kuchipudi Sobhanaida, scientist Dr. AS Rao, noted poet Gurram Jashuv, writer Narla Chiranjeevi, singer Lavu Bala Saraswathi Devi, artist Suryadevara Sanjeevadev and others.
The first day of the festival was marked by a cultural program including traditional and folk dance performances by children. Students showcased their talent and creativity by creating clay art. Competitions including essay writing, public speaking, story telling, drawing, internet search, fancy dress, patriotic songs and classical dance were organized for the children.
Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh, who was the chief guest, inaugurated the program along with Balotsav president SP Ramaraju, secretary R. Kondalarao, Krishna Milk Union president Chalasani Anjaneyulu and others.
On this occasion, he asked the parents not to pressure their wards and give them a chance to develop using their own ideas. The government is taking steps to solve problems in educational institutions in the state, the minister said. “To improve leadership skills among students, the government is planning to organize Mock Assembly in all districts,” Mr. Durgesh said, assuring that he would provide all help for the success of Balotsav.
