The Ugadi festivities were led by Tirumal Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) in a large manner in the Mahati Auditorium here on Sunday under the common auspices of Hindu Dharma Prachara Parishad (HDPP).
After the “Mangal Dhwani”, the Vedic anthems were scantped to signal the start of events related to the New Year. The compulsory “Panchanga Sravanam”, reading from the main features of the New Year’s Hindu calendar, was made by a well -known scholar Bellamonda Phani Kumar Sharma. The procedure is followed every day every year.
Later “Ashtavadhanam” was carried out by the well -known Littererateur SahasravaDhani Medasani Mohan, who previously worked as a project director Annamacharya TTD. “Avadhanam” is a unique feature and special for Telugu literature that requires a thorough command of the language, immense memory power, and the abundant sense of humor to handle crisis situations.
Meanwhile, children of TTD employees took part in a decorative dress and appeared in the robe “Vaggeyakaras” such as Tallapaka Annamacharya, Thyagaraja and others.
“Ugadi Pachadi”, a traditional delicacy prepared in Teluga’s homes on this day, was served to participants. Minister of GDPP Sriram Raghunath, program officer Rama GoPal and social care officer, were present.
