District Electoral Officer and Collector Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar on Saturday chaired a meeting with officials appointed to various teams in view of the upcoming assembly elections.
According to an official press release, training was conducted for officials assigned to the Flying Squad, Static Surveillance Team and Video Surveillance Team as recommended by the Election Commission of India.
Officials were given training on election-related preparations, their responsibilities and measures to be taken during the voting process. The team members were briefed in detail on the duties to be fulfilled for the upcoming council elections, measures to be taken to check the illegal movement of cash and gift items before the elections by conducting vehicle checks at various locations, video recording of checks, documentation procedures and ways to deal with violations of the model code of conduct during elections.
Officials also discussed checking high-value banking transactions and submitting daily reports to the Expenditure Monitoring Committee.
Superintendent of Police S. Jeyakumar, who presided over the meeting, explained in detail to the police personnel the need to follow the directions of the Election Commission.
