
Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) has signed a shipbuilding contract with French shipping company CMA CGM to build six 1,700 TEU dual-fuel LNG container vessels.
The agreement was signed between Jose VJ, Chairman and CEO, CSL, and Rodolphe Saadé, Chairman and CEO, CMA CGM, according to the release.
Vessels designed with dual-fuel engines capable of operating on liquefied natural gas (LNG) will significantly reduce emissions compared to conventional fuels. They will have advanced energy efficiency systems and an optimized hull design, the firm claimed.
