Chennai Super Kings dedicated their victory over Mumbai Indians to pacer Mukesh Choudhary, who appeared in the IPL 2026 match just days after his mother’s death. On Thursday, April 23, CSK recorded their biggest IPL win to date, beat MI by 103 runs in El Clasico at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Choudhary was named in the playing eleven for their first match of the season, with CSK confirming on social media that the team wore black armbands in memory of his mother.

After the match, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad praised Mukesh’s courage and said that it was tough on him mentally but he still made it back to the team and the entire CSK unit rallied around him in support.
“It’s pretty tough against him. Hats off, it takes a lot mentally to come into that situation. He came back for the team, for the franchise, because he knew we needed him. All credit to him. We all wanted to be there for him and we bounced back,” Gaikwad said at the post-match presentation ceremony.
Mukesh had a decent spell with the ball and finished with figures of 4-0-31-1. The left-arm speedster picked up the crucial wicket of Quinton de Kock, who had recently scored a century against Punjab Kings at the same venue just a few days before.
CSK BREAKING AFTER BAD START
ČSK, meanwhile, after three lost matches at the trot, gradually began to bounce back. Ruturaj Gaikwad’s men now have a chance to break into the top four. Sanju Samson played a century while Akeal Hosein picked up four wickets as CSK produced a dominant performance to see off MI.
With the win, CSK moved up to fifth in the table with six points and a net pace of 0.118, having won three out of seven matches. The five-time champions will look to carry that momentum forward when they take on Gujarat Titans at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday, April 26.
