CSK must build for the future, there are only 5 games in IPL 2025: Anil Kumble

Chennai Super Kings is all of the Play -off race and it’s time to start inventing their staff for the next season, said former Indian captain Anil Kumble. Kumble spoke after losing CSK at home against Sunrisers Hyderabad and said CSK had only 5 matches in the tournament and they had to start planning their future.

Nothing happened in the ongoing edition of the tournament. After winning their first game of the season against Mumbai Indians, CSK lost 7 of their other 8 games and is firmly placed on the bottom of the points table.

All experienced players at CSK could not inspire the party to win this season, resulting in a bad run for the IPL 2025. Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja and R. Ashwin were unable to get off on their potential.

After the match he spoke to Siamar, Kumble said that Rachin Ravindra was a great young talent and the inclusion of Dewald Brevis and Ayush Mhatre were positive for the franchise. Brevis played his first match against SRH on Friday, April 25, and recorded the impressive 42 out of 25 balls before being released with a sensational catch from Kamind Mendis.

“Rachin Ravindra is a fantastic young talent, but in this format he seems to have rushed – perhaps the number three would suit him better. He lacked too much outside Shivam Dube. Brevis and Mhatre are now gaining games,” Kumble said.

“But he has to start thinking outside Pathiran. Nathan Ellis is an experienced death pitch he has given before, but he did not find a place after the first match. With the five remaining games, it is the right time to give young decent run and start building for the future,” he added.

CSK is spinning at the bottom of the point table and has already used 20 of their 27 players. CSK still has to give a chance to VANSH Bedi, who is one of the most promising talents for goals on the home scene of the T20 in the country.

CSK has only 5 matches in IPL 2025 before their campaign will officially end. Kings Pandjab, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Knikht Riders, Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans will play before packing the campaign this season.
